10 Wedding Trends of 2016

Your wedding planning would be well underway (or it should be) if you’re getting married in 2016. Here are HostCo’s predictions for this year’s trends and some inspiration for your upcoming nuptials.
  1. One of the most important elements for your guests – the food! This year we will see a shift in the traditional plated dinners and see a lot of sharing menus and food stations or cocktail weddings.
  2. Rustic is still the go – think rose or antique gold metallics, tall vintage candlesticks, and rich red elements.
  3. Cascading florals will be all the rage at ceremonies and receptions. Using both fresh and artificial flowers will help pull off this spectacular look.
  4. A focus on lighting can help set a romantic mood – this year we’re seeing candles upon candles, hanging lighting, and more candles than lanterns.
  5. The rustic/lace look will carry through to the invitations – this is the first impression you’re giving your guests as to what they should expect at your wedding. We will see a lot of stationery laser cut or foiled with gold or copper.
  6. Bridesmaids will be wearing separates. Stay on the fashion trend, and have your bridesmaids in similar colours or colours with different styles, or printed skirts with plain tops.
  7. In keeping with a rustic theme, sustainability and natural elements will be prominent in food and d├ęcor with items made from wood, cork and stone.
  8. Although lace will still be big, crochet will become more prominent – in wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and table decorations.
  9. We’ll be seeing arched seating arrangements at ceremonies so you and your partner are the central focus, the way it should be!
  10. And as for the dresses, we’re predicting a lot of romantic and simple off the shoulder, flowing, boho inspired dresses.
